Location
In terms of location as we are limited with covid guidelines when planning this and we have no knowledge of the future state of the rules, therefore we need to make the location simple and effective.
What do we need?
Interior of a car (1)
Living room (2)
Mannor house (3)
What have we done to organise this?
1) In terms of the interior of a car, as around 95% of the sequence will be filmed in a car the car is very important to the sequence. Ted who is the actor playing the final boss also works in the running of the school I attend, he drives a Porsche SUV, he has let us use this car for the sequence as we planned our text based around the car.
Why?
This car is important as firstly it is a high-end luxury car so early on it suggests to the audience that these people are very established and have money, it is also not very flashy as luxury high end cars go mainly due to the colour, this also suggests they are keeping a low profile.
2)
The living room will be used in the final few second of the sequence with the final boss, the location of this room is not important as I have been advised that we could create this at any time in the school tv studio or in one of the many boarding houses, therefore not much planning has gone into the location of the scene.
Why?
The theme/vibe of the room is as below with dark bown themes with warm lit lights, this goes along with the aesthetic of well-dressed old guys drinking whisky. This dark and grand way of setting up the room gives a headquarters vibe as if this is where the mafia meet perhaps or maybe initiate new members.
3) The Mannor house is more of an added detail then a location. As the car will be parked for the scene, to show the wealth and power of this mafia we would like to park the car outside a Mannor/country estate. At my school there are many Mannor boarding houses in surrey, it’s been said that we have access to them for our sequences, therefore we will park the car in front of ‘Cornhill Mannor’ to make the scene authentic. Below is an image of Cornhill and another boarding house option.
Why?
As this will likely be one of the first shots of Jason getting in the car, to have the ability to have a big Mannor house outside/background would not only make for a really interesting opening scene but it also establishes the themes before anything have happened in the sequence, it gives the audience an idea of what type of film this is, and I think makes for a very unique beginning for a Lower sixth media project.
