Action/Drama
For my fist opening title sequence idea, I would like to create the opening to a film about Triads (Chinese mafia).
This film will be based on a story from Hong Kong, Stanley Ho known as the godfather of gambling, a multi billionaire businessman who at some points in time owned many casinos through hong kong and china. Due to the extensive organised crime occurring in china at the time it is said that Stanley ho had ties with the Triads due to loan sharking and the ability to launder money through casinos.
One day one of his daughters got married, and parked her nice car filed with wedding gifts and jewellery etc in a car park in Hong Kong. Later that day the car was stolen, to be send on a ferry straight to china where having a car that has the steering wheel on the other side is see as luxury.
Stanley heard about this and let it be known that he would like the car back, the next moaning the car was back where she left it with everything inside and a full tank of petrol. I think this shows a lot about the power of the underworld at that time and I would like this sequence to demonstrate the contrast of worlds in which Stanley was involved in, and how he managed to gain such power and respect among the world known triads.
I would like the scene to have some aspect of what you would think is a normal Chinese billionaire going about his day wherever he may be (have not yet chose location). The main aim of this opening title sequence is to show the contrast of being one of the most successful businessmen in china and the dark and extreme Chinese underworld of organised crime.
Potentially showing the character in a recognisable environment relevant to his status, then swiftly sowing moving into a more mafia like situation in which the character must deal with something in the same vicinity as the normal calm and safe place.
The remainder of the story line will show how these toxic connections can rot and the effect of being involved in both legal and illegal business at a high level with extremely dangerous people.
